Entropia Digital provides three sorts of data communication:

Text and data messages can be send between radios and applications on the network. Those can serve for locations, work assignments, status messages, database results and the like.

• Status service

Fixed programmed message in the radio. By this the central receives information on the status of the radio.

Short Data Service (SDS)

Entropia offers by means off Short Data Service the possibility to communicate (short) text messages (e.g. status messages) with guaranteed arrival and timing. This way time critical applications become within reach.

SDS (Short Data Service) has the following qualities:

  • Maximum 2048 bit
  • Send and arrived within 300 milliseconds
  • Individual message
  • Group message
  • Broadcast

If the walkie-talkie/ radiotelephone is equipped with GPS, then the GPS location is periodically send through a SDS location to a central for further processing. This is a standard accessory of Tetra and makes following people and vehicles an essay task.
Through the PEI (Peripheral Equipment Interface) on a radio it is possible to set up circuit-connected data communication connections with another radio or central.

• Package Data communication

Entropia Digital is appropriate for connection orientated IP (v4 and v6) communication with both 28,8 kilobyte down as 28,8 kilobyte band width. The band width is adapted to the needs (Bandwidth on demand). Applications that use GPRS IP communication can easily be transferred to Entropia applications because the interfaces and the protocols strongly resemble each other. It is also possible to set up a package data connection through a radio for data transport. This data connection can be used for applications and supports IP transport.

In the near future the band width will considerably increase. At the moment sending out small images and slow scan videos is already within the bounds of possibility.
