What can we do with it?

Through the development of the technology and standardisation in Europe, it is possible to introduce equipment that helps solve the frequency problem in radio communication. Trunking manages the available frequencies more efficiently. Users receive a number of channels from which a free channel is allotted automatically per user for the duration of a call.

Entropia has the following distinctive qualities:

Fast connection
With Entropia, the connection time for an individual call is less than 227 mS (with automatic take-up). This enables the user to communicate quickly and efficiently with voice & data. Speed is essential for fleet management and in emergency situations. For short data messages (status and data messages up to 100 characters), as a consequence of ‘packet switching’ the connection time is virtually nil.

High reliability
High reliability is extremely important, given the fact that Entropia looks after the communication in the primary business processes. In the unlikely case of a malfunction, the internationally available service department (24 hours/day, 7 days/week) will correct the problem. Thanks to multiple execution (redundancy), the customer will experience almost no deterioration of the Entropia service. Furthermore, the vital components are provided with emergency power supplies.

Extraordinary flexibility
Entropia offers customisation within the standard possibilities, with options for department- and customer-oriented applications. The user can choose to have his subscriptions fully customised and determine the area of validity for each individual connection.
Depending on the application, he can choose a voice or data subscription for his fleet. In connection with the averaging of the minutes of usage over the whole fleet, which usually provides a considerable cost-savings, the number of free minutes for all connections in the fleet must be the same. The user can also choose from various (extra) facilities (see Facilities).

High quality
In principle, the quality of the operational area is based on radiotelephone usage in the car. Walkie-talkie usage is also possible in a large part of Belgium and the Netherlands. In the regions of Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Charleroi, Liège, Rotterdam Europoort, Den Haag, Utrecht and Amsterdam, walkie-talkie coverage is present practically everywhere. Many other large cities and areas are nearly completely walkie-talkie covered by Entropia base stations. If commercially feasible, and according to market demand, the walkie-talkie coverage will be extended further. In mid-2006, Entropia had about 165 base stations in Belgium and the Netherlands. All base stations are connected by means of digital microwave radio links.

No investment
