The Rotterdam Fenix: Seamless Communication Behind the Scenes

A few weeks ago, R&S Communications and Entropia was entrusted with managing walkie-talkie communication for the festive opening of Fenix, Rotterdam's new art museum about migration. It proved to be a truly unique project.

The Challenge: High-Risk Event, Invisible Technology

The opening of Fenix on Friday 16th May was designated a high-risk event due to the attendance of Queen Máxima, necessitating stringent security measures. A key requirement was that all technical equipment remain out of sight – no visible antennas or fixed installations within the building.

To guarantee reliable communication under these constraints, the technical team at Entropia, in collaboration with R&S Communications, established a closed TETRA network.

By strategically placing antennas outside the field of view, we achieved full coverage throughout the concrete building. This enabled seamless collaboration among safety, hospitality, production, and technology teams, without compromising the event's aesthetics or guest experience.

Proud of Our Contribution

We are extremely proud to have served as the communication partner for the safe and successful opening of this Rotterdam landmark. Reliable communication is paramount for such events, ensuring teams remain connected at the touch of a button, anytime, anywhere.

Thank you, Fenix and Eva Schotanus, for your collaboration during this unique event!
